Builds
Below are our guidelines on player-submitted rooms to be added to the game's grid.
Regular Housing
In most cases, player character housing should be obtained using the rent system. See "help rent" when in-game. We will accommodate requests for bespoke housing if there is a demonstrated need which is not covered by the rent system.
You can find a list of rooms currently available to use with the rent system by clicking here.
Pitching a Build
Before submitting a build, please check in with sphere staff and build staff about whether what you want to request is needed and viable. By and large, we will always be accommodating of places which exist in real world San Diego. See the restrictions section below for more details.
In this request, you should outline whether the build is simply part of the grid, if your character (or another) is intended to own it, or indeed if your character simply happens to work in it. For example, if you wanted to play a character who works in a club or restaurant but doesn't actually own the establishment, you can pitch a build for the place.
Format: Format build requests using the following in your job:
|yName of Build|n: (your build's name)%r|yOwner|n: (player name or NPC name)%r|yNumber of Rooms|n: (number of rooms)%r|yRoom Types|n: (List this in bullet points)%r* Room 1%r* Room 2%r* Room 3%r* etc.%r|yGrid Location|n: (sector or neighborhood where the build will be)%r|yBuild Theme|n: (Describe what your build is and how you perceive it fitting into the local area.)%r|yBase of Operations|n: (how are your Base of Operations dots distributed, if none, say N/A)
It's easiest to copy and paste that into notepad and work on it from there.
For example:+request/create build/Hyena Garage=|yName of Build|n: Mo's Auto%r|yOwner|n: The Last Laugh pack 'owns' it through a land grant and pays for it through both illicit and legal operations%r|yNumber of Rooms|n: 4%r|yRoom Types|n: %r* Garage%r* Office%r* Back Lot%r* Single-wide Trailer on the property%r|yGrid Location|n: El Cajon - El Cajon Sector - Mid-City District %r|yBuild Theme|n: The build is a front operation for the Last Laugh. Primarily, it's an autoshop north east of El Cajon where the city ends and the scrub desert begins. It's also a chop shop, but they will take clients who aren't criminally-based. They probably have a reputation for being a chop shop, and likely won't get a lot of normal clientele, but for those folks who might live out in El Cajon they'd likely know that the three do good work. No one's sure who Mo is, and no one's seen him before.%r|yBase of Operations|n: Six dots among the three of us: Luxury 1, Size 2, Security 3
This will look like this (fairly clean and easy to read):
Submitting Descriptions
Once you have confirmed with staff that you can proceed with the build, please provide a description for each room. There is no specific restriction on room numbers, but generally, we would like to see how each room submitted can represent a distinctly different space to roleplay in. Generally, liminal spaces such as hallways should be excluded.
Restrictions
While Dies Irae is a game in part about fantastical events, our grid remains relatively grounded in reality. We certainly don't claim that it's a one-to-one, accurate representation, but generally, a person should be able to look at a map or photograph of San Diego, correlate it with Dies Irae's grid, and then know what we intended it to look like. Builds should be done with this in mind. Build pitches which would substantially change the nature of an area - for example, a stadium in a sleepy suburb - are unlikely to be accepted.
If a character is to own the place in question, we will check whether they have an appropriate resources level.
Sphere Builds
Sphere members may have access to housing within their organization's facilities. For example, Garou Septs provide dens, while chantries offer rooms to their members. Each individual is limited to one housing unit within the main facility and can not also have housing elsewhere. If you prefer to establish a separate private residence away from the main building, you must have adequate resources to match the required grid space. Before requesting construction of any housing, please obtain approval from your Sphere Lead.
